Earlier this offseason, I highlighted Akron running back Jordan Gant as one of #MyGuys.

We’re heading back to Northeast Ohio today.

This time, we’re talking about a wide receiver who caught more than half of his season passes during Akron’s final three games.

His name is Marcel Williams.

And I think the market completely missed his breakout.

The Zips final three games were all MACtion games, and Marcel Williams went from promising freshman to Akron’s WR1.

That’s 24 receptions, 384 yards, and 2 touchdowns in three games.

More importantly, it was 53% of his season receptions, 60% of his season receiving yards, and 100% of his touchdowns.

Most fantasy managers weren’t watching Akron football on Tuesday nights.

Did Williams suddenly become a better player in November?

I doubt it.

I think Akron finally realized what it had.

The result?

25.5 fantasy points per game in November.

Only four returning WR averaged more fantasy points per game during the month.

I have a feeling you already know the other names on that list.

Easton Messer is being drafted as WR3 on BlueChip.

Wyatt Young is WR6.

Malachi Toney is WR2.

Amare Thomas is WR5.

Marcel Williams?

WR51.

One of these things is not like the others.

The market looks at Marcel Williams and sees a MAC receiver who finished with 45 catches, 641 yards, and 2 touchdowns.

I see a receiver who became a legit WR1 during the final month of the season.

Blue Chip drafters are selecting Marcel Williams as WR51 (ADP 146 overall).

I‘m not just betting on three Tuesday night games.
